College of Law professor receives British Council award

Dr. Barry Solaiman recognized for his research across AI, medicine and the law

A College of Law professor is now the proud recipient of the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Award for Science and Sustainability. 

Dr. Barry Solaiman, Assistant Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, received his accolade at the British Council’s recent Qatar Awards ceremony. The award is given to alumni from British universities who have distinguished themselves through their career and achievements in the world of science and sustainability, and who can demonstrate the impact and scale of their achievements in their profession, and beyond. Dr. Solaiman was recognized for his research across the fields of AI, medicine and the law.

“I was delighted to represent the College of Law at the Qatar Awards ceremony where Dr. Solaiman was deservedly recognized for his exceptional research in legal aspects of AI and medicine,” noted Dr. Susan L. Karamanian, Dean, College of Law. “In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Solaiman acknowledged the College of Law’s critical role in educating the next generation of law students to help build legal capacity in Qatar and the Middle East. His words reflected Dr. Solaiman’s dedication to the College, particularly our students, and its important mission.”

Dr. Barry Solaiman has a PhD in Law from the University of Cambridge, an LLM International Trade and Commercial Law from Durham University, and an LLB (Hons) from Newcastle University. A former colleague from Newcastle University joined the ceremony online to acknowledge Dr. Solaiman’s contributions and celebrate his achievements.
