Faculty from HBKU’s College of Public Policy and College of Law delivered a customized executive program on public policy design, formulation, and analysis
Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Executive Education Center (EEC) collaborated with the Royal Academy of Management to conduct a three-day module in Muscat, Oman, for 20 Directors General (DGs) hailing from various sectors across the country.
Throughout the module, titled “Public Policy and Strategy Planning and Execution,” participants learned key concepts in public policy design and formulation, absorbed insights into effective public policy analysis, management, and implementation, and explored the intersection between law and policy. They also delved into comprehensive case studies, policy design, and policy evaluations drawn from the Omani and Qatari markets. Doing so highlighted important lessons for leaders interacting with and operating within the government sector, including education, urban planning, and subsidies.
Commenting on the successful delivery of the module, Mohamed Abuelgasim, Executive Director, EEC, said: “Our collaboration with the Royal Academy of Management and HBKU’s CPP and College of Law yielded a unique academic offering that imbued participants with the knowledge required to shape and implement effective public policy. We all share a mutual commitment to helping these senior professionals enhance their policy formulation and implementation capabilities and boosting Oman’s senior talent pool by complementing their human development efforts.”
The module falls under the EEC and Royal Academy of Management’s strategic partnerships, in which the Center delivers a module as part of an overall journey that includes partners such as the University of Arizona’s Eller Executive Education Center, Takatuf Oman, and IMD Switzerland - a national initiative designed to reinforce Oman’s senior government staff’s public sector leadership and policy delivery capabilities.
